Exciting Royal Wedding News for Mrs Blighty!!!!

Dahlings - just have to share this with you!
After the Royal Wedding was announced, the weeks went by and nothing came in the post.

To be honest I did not really expect it, but on the other hand (and I do hate to boast) we are actually quite well-connected:  Mr Blighty is a Top Civil Servant (with responsibility for the proper placement of semi-colons in Her Majesty's Acts of Parliament - Unit L00 - Colon Control) and our next-door neighbour is an influential local Councillor.

Well, today a very important letter arrived.   What I had secretly been hoping for.
Please see below the wonderful missive.

Yes! There will be a Refuse Collection on 29th April, the day of the Royal Wedding!
I feel so honoured.

I know I shan't sleep a wink the night before and will be up early getting ready...

This is a Royal Wedding I shall never forget!

  2. Oo-er you live such a privilged life Mrs Blighty! Despite (or perhaps because of?) the fact that my FIL once danced with Princess Margaret we have yet to receive any Royal Wedding missives whatsoever. Even my 91 year old mother got an exclusive invitation (!) to purchase the 'Official' Royal Wedding Coin. On the bright side, one of the assistants at our local Waitrose informed me that it will be open on The Day. So that's something to do on the 29th - phew.

  4. What a relief - and here was I thinking you'd be let down. Now you can enjoy the big day in full knowledge your rubbish from the prepacked M&S coronation chicken sandwiches will be collected in a timely fashion!

  5. Just be careful what you put out on the day. I am sure the paparazzi will go through it with a fine tooth comb!

  6. Dear Blighty,

I thought for a moment that you got an invite!
I was imagining the outfit that you'd wear!
and wondering what you'd give as a gift!

  7. You seem to have a case of RWF - Royal Wedding Fever. As we draw closer to the big day the symptoms become more pronounced. Don't be surprised if you feel the need to buy a tea-towel with the happy couple on it. I'm thinking of building a conservatory in the honour. Amber

I'm so happy for you but jealous at the same time.

What will you be wearing to wheel your bins out?

  9. Dahling, how many meetings, consultations and secret ballots were commissioned do you think, for this momentous decision re garbo collection?
The least you can do for Chiltern is frock up and don your tiara when you take out the bin.
Or is this a job only handled by the Top Civil Servant?

  10. Thank goodness Blighty! Now make sure your bins are looking their best and are ready to greet the bin men the proper way, ensure they don't cause embarrassment to you or else this opportunity will never present itself again. XX

  11. I *have* been invited to a party - hats required - and we start at 10am...basically sitting around in our finery, critiquing the outfits of all the REAL wedding guests. We start off with tea and cakes and as the day wears on, I suspect we might move on to sherry......

Actually, will be really good fun. I am baking special wedding cupcakes!!!!

  13. I think we should pause a moment to reflect on those brave men who are giving up the chance to watch the wedding of the century to empty your bins. They too would like to be downing Pimms' while guessing the colour of Jenny Bond's hat (or whoever does her demanding job nowdays). Let us give thanks for the selflessness of the bin boys of Bucks!

  16. You must be of the gentry to have your garbage collected on such a momentous occasion! Perhaps you could leave some tallies out for the poor working class garbos that will miss out on viewing and critiquing the wedding.

  17. Isn't it a joy to feel part of the special day! I am also a lucky recipient of a collection, shall we wave flags at the bin men in honour of their blitz mentality and getting on with the job! xx
