Hi there Dahlings! Now, try not to be too jealous of my exciting lifestyle, but this week I took delivery of a brand new vacuum cleaner. Yes, glamour, find it here.
To my horror it arrived unassembled and I had to read the manual and fit it together myself. I always feel that reading any product manual is a sign of defeatism, but needs must.
It was a tense moment but I managed. I expect to get a Nobel Prize for Science soon. Or at least a request to help out with the Hadron Collider.
And look - a warning about rip off bags. I thought one only had to be careful when buying Louis Vuitton or Chanel but apparently vacuum cleaner bags are equally tricky.
In other news, now the snow has gone I am back to embracing my midlife crisis, fashion wise. (Is the new vacuum cleaner another manifestation of this, most people buy Meno-Porsche but maybe the new cleaner is the nearest I can get? I did enjoy taking it for a drive yesterday, it certainly has good revs).
Look, dodgy camo trousers. Boy 1 was HORRIFIED. "Are those Army trousers you are wearing?" he asked, in shock. Note also the studding detail on the pocket.
And look, dodgy pixie boots. With studding.
And yes, Converse All Star hi-tops. With leopard trim. And studding.
It seems that studs are Key to a midlife crisis. Also, I seem not merely to have embraced my Midlife Crisis but to have taken it out to dinner and bought it champagne.
Meanwhile I have read this. It's very good, a murder mystery set in West Virginia, in the Appalachians. Unfortunately I guessed who the baddie was early on. Because I am a Smartass. Who has read too many murder mysteries.
Finally Mr B and I are having Quality Couple Time watching this of an evening: Scandi Noir drama, The Bridge.
It's brilliant! And I really can't work out who the baddie is . I love Saga, the blonde woman detective. The Guardian have a very good blog about it, all the comments and speculation are very entertaining.
Right I'm off to watch Boy 2 play football for the school. Wonder who will have more studs on - the entire football team on their boots, or me, in my Midlife Crisis Fashion Outfit?

ReplyDeleteYour camo trousers can join my cheetah print coat on their Thelma and Louise mid-life crisis spree.
I blame Pinterest. I am also on Instagram now so there is no telling where this will end. Are you on there by the way? If not, come in, the water's fine. Sod the vacuum cleaner!
Hi Sally - but do you have to take pics for Instagram?? sounds too tiring. And would mainly be pics of my vaccuum cleaner.
DeleteThe converse high tops are the bomb diggity! I'm having a similarly glam week, whereupon I got really excited about my decision to by a steam mop, only to be derailed by my wowser husband when he reminded me we already had plans to purchase a new washing machine and some camping equipment so couldn't afford it. He never lets me have any fun.
ReplyDeleteOoh a steam mop, that sounds good....
DeleteSome one was talking about that vacuum cleaner of yours at school yesterday. Apparently, my Dyson is completely out. I feel so ashamed - I'll likely be ostracised at the school gates now.
ReplyDeleteEmbrace the studs, you've now reached the point where it is your duty to embarrass and humiliate your teenage sons. Otherwise, they'll never leave home. xx
Heidi - how interesting - fashion even extends to vaccuum cleaners! Do Prada do one yet?
DeleteI am def on track re son repelling strategies - I am VERY embarassing, apparently
I sympathise with the vacuum cleaner assembly, given that it took me and Mr Melusine a while to assemble our new Vax cleaner too! And yes, I had a real sense of accomplishment once we'd actually managed to do it without breaking the machine (or me losing it with poor Mr M!).
ReplyDeleteLove all the studs. I think you only need to worry about a midlife crisis if the studs start appearing elsewhere, such as through your nose!! :)
Melusine x
Oh a Vax - love the way you throw these high end names arounc with careless abandon...
DeleteRe your last sentence - or in my bed!!!!
Ha!!! Am sure that Mr B is a complete stud! ;)
DeleteEnjoy your mid-life crisis while it lasts! I am now into post mid-life but still haven't finished the crisis part.
ReplyDeleteKate - how does your crisis manifest itself? Studs? Leather? Cleaning appliances?
DeleteIs Mr Blighty a stud by any chance?
ReplyDeleteHi Debs! Ha! I wish!
DeleteStuds are IN, so your mid life fashion crisis is temporarily averted! A new hoover is good. Not as good as your converse boots though, I'd luff a pair of those!

ReplyDeleteAnd why is your vacuum not studded, I must enquire?
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely a gap in the market for trendy vacuum cleaners - can't believe Missoni has not done one yet - or maybe they have, I just don't move in the right circles..
DeleteSpooky...peeked at your Pinterest Book list and see that we've read the same books.
ReplyDeleteI think you'd love two of my 2012 favourites - Where DId You Go Bernadette? by Maria Semple and Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walters. Both are big fat intelligent juicy gripping reads, the kind you lock yourself in your room for hours to finish.
Perhaps also try True Believers by Kurt Anderson.
Dear Anon, thank you for these book recommendations, so kind of you and they sound great, I have made a note of them. Best wishes Blighty
DeleteA huge dick in my pussy,a new warm wet tounge up my own arse and
